The meditative Aufguss is a throw during which guided meditation techniques are used inside the cabin to allow guests to reach a deep state of inner peace and reconnection with the nature that surrounds them. The meditative aufguss normally has a longer duration than the canonical Aufguss, but a lower heat intensity also thanks to the re-oxygenation of the cabin that is often carried out and to the use of water and / or ice on the brazier that allows a progressive and gradual raising temperature. Often it is performed without music like the classic or through the use of musical instruments inside the cabin.
The meditative aufguss often originates in its execution from the different purification rituals that cross many of the cultures of the globe such as the Mexican Temazcal or the sweat lodge of the American Indians, up to the traditions closest to us like those of the Baltic countries.
In these rituals, silence or the sounds of natural instruments, such as Tibetan bells, gong, shamanic drum, hang, didgeridoo, rainstick or ocean drum, are substituted for music. For those who love meditation, the silence of the Sauna is certainly the ideal place to free the mind from thoughts and fully experience this experience, listening to the natural sounds of the cabin or the various instruments that are offered.
As for the fragrances, essential oils that favor meditation are certainly preferred, such as vetiver, juniper, incense, rosemary, sage, orange or others.
Often in this type of Aufguss other types of natural fragrance are used in place of or in addition to essential oils. For example, fumigation rituals (or smoke rituals) are performed by burning resins, incense, spices or other natural materials suitable for the purpose. Alternatively, infusions of aromatic herbs or water resulting from the rehydration of bundles of dried branches are also used on the brazier as in the Scandinavian, Russian and Baltic tradition.
Freeing your mind from thoughts, reconnecting to your breath, closing your eyes, letting yourself be carried away by relaxing and enveloping gusts of hot air, listening to the sounds and breathing in the scents, the meditative Aufguss will help to rediscover positive sensations, allowing guests to go out at the end of the regenerated ritual.
These experiences, however, move deep aspects of the person and therefore are not easily manageable by anyone. To perform a meditative Aufguss it is important to have the right attitude and respect due to this type of ritual that has deep roots in human culture. It is also advisable to have developed an adequate training in all the aspects that are to be proposed, whether on a meditative, musical or aromatic level.
